Leftovers!

So...i was left with these pieces from my quilt. I was sure I was going to use them...just wasn't sure how. Duh - look at the quilt book. They had a pattern in there to utilize the left over pieces. So now I have a wallhanging sized quilt.

No idea what to do with it, but I will probably quilt the wide tan fabrics with a 'heavy' pattern and let them colored strips stand out. Other than that? I don't have any place in my house for it.

Out with the Old, In with the New

This is an odd combo quilt - older Victorian style prints in a contemporary pattern. Something different. The quilt pattern was used in a baby quilt, but I wasn't going for their verson. I 'updated' to a little more stylish combination of colors.

Almost has the feel/look of a contemporary painting of sorts. But I like it. I am adding 6" borders of the red fabric all the way around and then it will be ready to layer.

MLK Day off = Put another quilt together

Strong hubby lugged the kitchen table to the family room again. :o)

All the pieces are cut out and the individual blocks are put together. Now to create the rows by joining the blocks together. This was a simple quilt and cut all the pieces and sewed the blocks together in just a couple hours.

10 weeks (supposedly) to go

This pictures is an update of the one below. Just proving to my Dad that I haven't reached the door knob yet!! Hopefully I won't either. I don't feel huge and some people at work are just now noticing (mostly guys, duh!) I am pregnant. OB says everything looks ok. I do have monthly ultrasounds to make sure she is growing at the right rate. 30 weeks tomorrow (so they tell me) Getting down to 'crunch' time.

Wild Child baby quilt - Finished!

This is the first quilt I have done for myself since I made the baby quilt for my first baby. (I did make one for my cousin's baby - she was due 2 days after my first baby) I never got to meet my first baby or lay her in that quilt. It feels good to get another one done. I didn't want to use the first baby quilt for my Ireland baby. Just didnt' seem right. Love this one!

Nursery Update

I still need to get decorations for the walls, paint circles on the plain walls and get a shaggy rug, but it is coming along. I like how bright and cheerful it is. Jay helped and did the hard part of putting the crib and set of drawers together.
Feel free to leave comments and suggestions for what I should put above the crib. I think anything too small would be "lost" in the stripes. I think it's going to need to be large and probably dark in color to stand out.

Kiss me, I am Irish!

Today, we received a white bib that says "Kiss Me, I am Irish!" Cute!

Nothing terribly exciting happening right now. The nursery is coming along well. My parents bought us a chest of drawers that matches the crib we picked out. I have yet to put it together. When we do, then I can fill up the drawers with several outfits already. I got several things for Christmas for the baby including diapers :o)

We have two lamps in the nursery -- one matches the crib bedding exactly since it is made from the same material. The other is an old lamp that I changed the lamp shades from white to multi colored. I will take a picture later so you can see what I mean. It has 5 bulbs on it and the arms holding the bulbs are flexible which will be nice down the road.

Her quilt is also getting close to being done. I work on lit a little bit every week, or at least try to. Right now I am quilting the final border. After that, I will add the binding and whip stitch it on.
