Learning OCF - Off Camera Flash

From my photo shoot tonight - I am learning how to use flash creatively. My flash is rigged to a tripod sitting about 5 feet behind her. I can wirelessly trigger the flash when I push down the shutter. This is why her hair is lighter and stands out against the background.

Just for Jean :)

Not happy that I pulled him from his 'grass eating' expedition :)

I can rarely get her to look at the camera...much less smile but here she is

Sniff...sniff...

*fake tears* Sigh I can't think of anything to write. No pictures to post...or at least nothing too monumental. Jay did give me a bouquet of flowers for completing my first half marathon.

Ho hum..let's see. Its after midnight so yesterday i was able to get 8 hours in at work while watching two kiddos. One is teething so he isn't too happy right now and Rylee is just going through a very dramatic stage where everything is just horrible for her. I can be as simple as an animal cracker dropping on the floor and you would think it was the end of the world.

I am not really sure how to snap her out of this rather irritating stage so I am doing it on a case by case basis.  I am noticing outright disobedience however and that is being dealt with immediately and with some pretty stiff penalties :/ She still has her sweet moments especially in the mornings when she comes downstairs after waking up and i am working in the recliner. She likes to get in a morning hug or like this morning she wanted to snuggle so i logged out of work, closed up the laptop and tugged her up along with her stuffed horsey and favorite pink blankie. Work will always be there, little girls won't be.  She loves for me to sing "Jesus Loves Me" at bedtime and will even prompt me if i don't begin singing when she thinks I should have. I often insist she join me or at least try to get her to start singing herself.

Jayden is quite the little guy. He usually has a smile for everyone and right now thinks he should be allowed outside to play with Rylee so he can usually be found pounding on the patio glass from his 'belly-on-the-floor' position. He has the army crawl down...it took me a while to figure out why he had a small blister on the bottom of his right big toe.  That's his push off toe apparently and he can get around pretty well.

As for me, nothing too new. Right now I am in a lull of sorts. I don't feel like working on photography, quilting, reading, sewing, dieting, house work (as if i ever did), or anything else. I pretty much keep up the mundane tasks, house in a fairly good order, kids fed, watered, bathed and diapered and work about 30 hours a week. I do still read blogs and peruse photography websites but I am kinda just...blah right now.

Upcoming project that need to be completed but who knows when: landscaping - big one. When we moved into our bank repo house last July the inside was what i was mainly worried about. So i covered the front landscaping garden with black paper stuff and its still like that. I know nothing about plants and mulch. mom always did that stuff and I never acquired the skill or creativity. So at some point I will tackle that one.

Well i am tired.....Adios.

My goal - complete 13.1 miles

Today I completed my first (and only) 13. miles half-marathon. Jay wanted us to do something together so I decided to join him this year for the Indy Mini-Marathon. I do not enjoy running at all but I started training for this in January and it paid off. Even with temps in the 80s and humidity at 91%, I completed it and that's what I wanted.

Christmas Gift

We were finally able to break out their last unused Christmas gift. They both really enjoyed it. I even took them on another walk today. I was pretty sure Rylee was going to hyperventilate she was so excited when she saw the wagon!
