Sigh..

...Right now I am just not motivated to post. Not to mention, I haven't worked on a quilt for a long time, so I am going to get my quilting stuff out and throw a few squares together :o)

Too early in the morning

Time: 6:30 a.m. this morning getting ready for work and brushing my teeth

Object: A black and white striped dental retainer

Husband: "Oh, leopard!"

Wife: "When was the last time you saw a black and white striped leopard?"

Husband: "Oh, not leopard."

Wife: "So what is it?"

Husband: "I don't know."

Wife: "You don't know what has black and white stripes?"

Husband walks out of bathroom into the other room and Wife wonders if she is going to get an answer. A couple seconds later "Zebra!" sounds from the other room.

There for a minute I thought I was going to have to review zoo animals with my Hubby :o)

Another Wacko Weekend

Friday started off at 4:30 a.m. We left the house at 5 and headed to Florence to meet Aaron, Jay's brother, and his wife for breakfast at IHOP. We met up at about 5:45. I had pumpkin pancakes, eggs, bacon and some hashbrowns. It was all very yummy. At 6:55 we said goodbye, and Jay drove me to work where I clocked in at 7:15 a.m. While I was working my 8 hour shift, Jay took our car to the garage to have two new headlights put in and a ball joint fixed. Over 3 hours later, he finally had a car in working order. Apparently the garage didn't have enough air power to run one of their tools and it took a lot longer than it should have. He stopped by Walmart on the way back to the house and then packed a few things in a suitcase, did some work at the church and then turned around and drove an hour back to the jail to pick me up at 3:15 p.m.

We drove a couple hours to Anderson, Indiana to Jay's parents house. We both took a quick nap and were out the door at 6:45 to head to their church for a revival service. We had planned to meet up with both his parents, but his mom ended up going to the hospital to be with Jay's grandpa. So after church, we all went to the hospital where we talked my mother in law into coming to eat with us at Fazoli's. After a quick dinner, we split up again. Mother in law back to the hospital and the rest of us to the house. I found a few blankets and decided I wanted to stretch out on the couch and watch the fire Jay had started in the fireplace. The rest of them talked for a while and Jay woke me up in the late evening and said perhaps I should sleep in the bedroom.

At 7:45 a.m. this morning our alarm rang. We read our devotions and talked a little bit to Jay's mom and then we were out the door again to be at my cousin's house by 9:47 a.m. We stayed until 11 a.m. chatting and being goofy and then headed out the door again. We arrived back in Falmouth at 1:18 p.m. Jay ran upstairs and changed and headed right back out the door for a 1:30 community service honoring veterans for their service to our country. Since he is a pastor, he will give out two commemorations to the veterans in our church. That's where he is right now as I write this. Sigh...too much stuff for one weekend :o)

Day 7 - Testy Thursday

This morning I discovered why Hawaii has rainbows on their license plates. This morning we saw 2 full bows and 2 partial bows. It was amazing!!! You could clearly see purple, blue, yellow, orange, and red. So pretty!

Then we visited Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona. And here I arrive at the reason for the title of today's blog. Since we have been here, we have noticed a huge percentage of tourists as those from China and Japan. I have nothing against them touring our country. HOWEVER, when you visit a memorial in honor of American soldiers who fought for freedom against your country then "shut up!" We were standing in the memorial which is moored over top of the sunken ship, and we were surrounded by babbling loud foreign tourists with absolutely no respect for the patriotism of the soldiers who died there. It's funny because the U.S. Navy soldiers who run the memorial had cautioned everyone on the boat over to the memorial, that they should be quiet and respectful while at the memorial. What I figured out later, was that 50% of the people on the boat had no idea what he was saying because he was speaking in English (imagine that!). To me, if you're going to visit a memorial for another country besides your own, then be quiet and respect them! I came away with a different view of foreign travelers. Another question that arose in my mind, why in the world are they coming to an American memorial that would never have been necessary if their country hadn't attacked ours?? Ok, I am will now backtrack and say that I am not prejudiced against foreign travelers, but at least be respectful of those in whose country you are touring!

I am not sure if you can see the oil in this picture or not. The Arizona still leaks oil to this day over 60 years later.

In case you are wondering, the headsets around our necks are connected to a small radio. It is the Audio Tour of the memorial. As you go throughout the museum and memorial, there are small numbers nearby and by punching in the numbers on your radio, a WWII survivor is narrating what happened back on that fateful day.

People were putting small flowers in the water as tributes to the American navy members who died. If you look closely you can see the ship under the water.
